Physician Dashboard / P4P

In 2011, a Saint Mary's Health Plans Health Services Task Force (HSTF) was developed to solicit input and structure for a Physician Dashboard Pay for Performance (P4P) program, among other initiatives. The HSTF is comprised of more than eight PCPs (GIM, FP, Peds) and reports to the Saint Mary's Health Plans Medical Advisory Committee.

The P4P program will be developed this year for a 2012 implementation and program goals include:

• Improve quality
• Reduce overall cost
• Incentivize physicians to provide cost-effective care

Industry insight shows that Physician Dashboards (P4P Programs) appear to be successful programs that financially reward PCPs for both HEDIS improvements in preventive care and improved efficiencies in areas such as access to care, prescribing patterns, referral patterns and a reduction in redundancy of testing.
